Humanity
On October 10th, neurosurgeon and author Henry Marsh delivered a captivating lecture titled "Their Lives in Our Hands" at Pompeu Fabra University, focusing on the human aspects of neurosurgery. Marsh emphasized the importance of empathy and understanding the emotional impact surgeries have on patients and their families. The event also featured a roundtable discussion, offering insights on ethical and human challenges in neurosurgery.

Erasmus
On October 15th, our fifth- and sixth-year students shared their enriching Erasmus experiences across Europe. Pelayo Aguilera Fernández visited IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan, Alexia Jimenez de Parga Punset trained at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London, and Sol Rull and Fran Maldonado explored Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, while Carlos Villarroya García joined the team at St. James’ Hospital, also in Dublin. We thank these students for inspiring others to pursue medical opportunities across Europe.

Fournier's Gangrene
Dr. Ana María González Castillo (FEBS, EmSurg) did insightful session on managing serious soft tissue infections, with a focus on Fournier's Gangrene. She discussed its incidence, pathogenesis, surgical management, and briefly touched on reconstruction. The session, attended by students across all courses, provided a valuable introduction to handling critical medical emergencies in a hospital setting
