SCALPEL VII

Come and join us for this year's new edition of SCALPEL

The seventh edition of SCALPEL is here—the only international surgical congress in Spain made by students for students.

SCALPEL is an international surgical congress led by the Gimbernat Surgical Society (AQG). Throughout the year, our team works tirelessly to bring this immersive surgical experience to life every February, creating a dynamic learning environment that bridges theory and real surgical practice. The congress is designed to expose medical students to the reality of surgery through hands-on activities and high-quality academic content, offering:

  • Interactive surgical simulations that recreate real operative scenarios

  • Detailed anatomical resources to reinforce surgical anatomy and spatial understanding

  • Case-based learning modules to strengthen both theoretical knowledge and practical clinical reasoning

This year's speakers:

Dr. Miguel Pera

The evolution and future of leadership in Surgery

It's not just about learning — it’s about connecting

Beyond the lectures and hands-on sessions, SCALPEL offers an environment where knowledge meets collaboration. During coffee breaks, lunches, and evening social events, you’ll have the opportunity to exchange ideas with medical students, residents, and leading surgeons from around the world.

The congress thrives on its international presence, bringing together participants from diverse cultures and medical backgrounds. This global exchange not only enriches discussions but also builds lifelong professional relationships that transcend borders.

Equally, SCALPEL is a celebration of the vibrant national community, gathering students from universities all across Spain — from Madrid and Barcelona to Valencia, Seville, and beyond. This diversity creates a dynamic atmosphere where different perspectives come together under one shared goal: pursuing surgical excellence.

Building on the success of previous editions, SCALPEL VII has expanded its reach to welcome participants from across the globe, making it a truly international event. In this year’s editions +200 attendees from +20 countries will attend this student surgical congress.
